Mr. Donald J. Worth Appointed Director
of Canarc Resource Corp.

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, January 7, 1998.... Mr.
Bradford Cooke, President and C.E.O. of Canarc Resource Corp. is
pleased to announce the appointment of Donald J. Worth, P. Eng., to the
Board of Directors. Mr. Worth brings to Canarc many years of experience
in the mining and financial industries. The appointment is subject
to the approval of shareholders at the next annual general meeting.
Mr. Worth was most recently Vice President of Global Mining Group at
the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He retired in August following
over 30 years at the CIBC. Earlier in his career, Mr. Worth held
various positions in the mining operations of Asarco Mexicana, Lake Asbestos
of Québec and Canadian Gypsum.
His commitment to the mining industry includes the immediate past Presidency
of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. Don
Worth is also a Trustee of the Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Income Fund and
a Director of two other listed resource companies.
